A former Super Bowl MVP will be trusted with developing an HBCU football team’s receiving core.
Santonio Holmes, MVP of Super Bowl XLIII for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was announced as Central State’s new wide receivers coach Monday afternoon.
Holmes will join new head coach Tony Carter in trying to lead the Marauders to their first winning season since restarting football in 2006.

Holmes played his college ball at Ohio State before being drafted by the Steelers in 2006. Three seasons later, Holmes caught nine passes for 131 yards and the toe drag of all toe drag touchdowns to give the Steelers a 27-23 win over the Arizona Cardinals and the franchise’s 6th Super Bowl title.
Holmes played for the Steelers, New York Jets and Chicago Bears, catching 389 passes for 6,030 yards and 36 touchdowns.
