The Harris-Stowe State men’s basketball team just got a big offseason win, adding dynamic junior college transfer Christopher Hammonds Jr. to the ranks.
“Excited to have Chris join our program,” said Harris-Stowe State men’s basketball coach Michael Cook on Hammonds’ commitment to the team. “Looking forward to watch his growth on [and off] the court in our program.”
Hammonds averaged 16.1 points per game on 45% shooting from the field and 42% shooting from three-point range. He also averaged 2.0 steals per game.

This includes a 2024-2025 season in which he scored 20.4 points (second in NJCAA Region 4) on 49% field-goal shooting and 48% from three in 18 games.
The Chicago native joins a Harris-Stowe State team that finished this past season with an 8-19 overall record, including a 5-13 overall record. Harris-Stowe State is searching for its first winning season since 2019-2020.
Hammonds comes to the Hornets with two years of eligibility remaining.
