Grambling State dominated Alabama A&M 73-56 in the opening round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men’s Basketball Tournament on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Gateway Center Arena.

Mikale Stevenson led the eighth-seeded Tigers (12-21) with 17 points off the bench, shooting an impressive 7 for 9 from the field, including 3 for 4 from beyond the arc2. Kintavious Dozier contributed 16 points and six assists, while P.J. Eason added 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Tigers took control early, seizing the lead with 14:59 left in the first half and never relinquishing it. Grambling’s strong defensive effort held Alabama A&M to just 30 points in the first half, and the Tigers took a commanding 41-30 lead into the break.

Alabama A&M (10-22), the ninth seed in the tournament, struggled offensively throughout the game.

Quincy McGriff was the only Bulldog to reach double figures, finishing with 10 points. Anthony Bryant and London Riley each contributed nine points in the losing effort.

Grambling’s victory sets up a quarterfinal matchup against top-seeded Southern on Wednesday. The Tigers will look to continue their momentum as they attempt to defend their 2024 SWAC title.
