As the recruiting wars heat up at all levels of college football, one HBCU coach is not a fan of a well-known PWI coach’s recruiting approach.
Tremaine Jackson, who was named Prairie View A&M’s new head coach earlier this year, took exception to LSU’s Brian Kelly’s recruiting methods.

“We don’t wine and dine guys in recruiting,” Jackson told Cory Hogue of Texas Football. “We give it to you straight up because I don’t have time to de-recruit you. You’re not going to catch me on Twitter with my hat backward and dancing on the 360 with guys. Brian Kelly did that, and he ain’t won a championship yet.”
Jackson’s comment references a viral 2022 video of Kelly dancing with a recruit who has since signed with Alabama.
Jackson was hired by the Panthers after parting ways with Bubba McDowell following the 2024 season. In his two seasons on the job, Jackson led Division II Valdosta State to a pair of Gulf South Conference championships and the national championship game.
I fully agree with Coach Jackson on recruitment.
