Former Grambling State head football coach Hue Jackson is advancing in his second season on the Georgia State coaching staff.

After serving as the Assistant General Manager in his first year with the team, Jackson has been promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

He came to Georgia State after parting ways with Grambling State after two seasons as the team’s head coach.

Jackson led the Tigers to an 8-14 overall record, including an 8-10 conference record, continuing what was then a three-year streak (now four years) without a winning season.

Promoted! 📈

After last coaching at the University of Southern California as the offensive coordinator, the former Tigers head coach returned to the college ranks in 2021 in the same role with Tennessee State, joining current coach Eddie George’s staff.

This succeeded a 17-year stint in the NFL in which Jackson served in numerous roles, including as head coach of the then Oakland Raiders (now Las Vegas Raiders) in 2011 and the Cleveland Browns from 2016-2018.

Jackson joins a list of former SWAC head coaches now at the FBS level that includes Deion Sanders, Willie Simmons, Broderick Fobbs, Donald Hill-Eley, Vincent Dancy, and Kendrick Wade.
