The Michael Vick experience is coming to the HBCU sidelines.
Vick, the 13-year NFL quarterback who excited fans with his strong arm and quick legs, was hired as the Norfolk State football program’s new head coach Tuesday evening. He will try to guide the program to the top of the MEAC.
According to a report from Glenn Irby of Yahoo! Sports, Vick agreed to terms with the university, and an introductory press conference will take place within the week.
A source close to Vick with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed with HBCU Sports earlier Tuesday that a deal was done.

Vick will replace Dawson Odums, who was let go last month following a four-year run that saw Norfolk State compile a 15-31 overall record.
Vick will become the latest NFL to HBCU hire, following Deion Sanders’ three-year run at Jackson State and Eddie George’s current tenure at Tennessee State, where he led the Tigers to the FCS playoffs this season.
