After a season in which Grambling State failed to generate consistent offense during a rocky and disappointing 2024 under first-year head coach Mickey Joseph, an anticipated change has come.

Eric Dooley, the Tigers offensive coordinator, has been let go after just one season as the playcaller, according to FootballScoop and independently confirmed by HBCU Sports.

Despite Grambling ranking third in the SWAC in points per game at 24.7, the offense never really got going in a consistent manner, which was evident by the play of preseason conference offensive player of the year Myles Crawley. The senior threw for 1,598 yards to go along with 11 TDs and 9 interceptions in what was an injury-plagued season.

Midway through the regular season, Joseph, who hired Dooley to run the offense after he was fired as Southern head coach, expressed frustration with the unit and its productivity. At one point, Joseph suggested he would intervene in strategy and playing calling to enhance performance. Over the final six games, including a Bayou Classic loss to Southern, Grambling failed to score at least 21 points.

The Tigers finished the season at 5-7 and 2-6 in the SWAC.
