Clark Atlanta QB David Wright III named top player in SIAC

The SIAC has announced its all-conference honorees, highlighted by Clark Atlanta quarterback David Wright III winning his second straight SIAC Overall Player of the Year award.

Wright led the SIAC passing for 2,915 yards (fifth in Division II), completing 62% of his passes and throwing 28 touchdowns to 12 interceptions.

Claiming the SIAC Offensive Player of the Year award is Albany State quarterback Isaiah Knowles. Knowles threw for 2,555 passing yards, completing 66% of his passes and scoring an SIAC-high 32 touchdowns to eight interceptions.

Miles defensive back Lashon Young received the SIAC Defensive Player of the Year award. Young led Division II with seven interceptions, along with five pass breakups. He also tallied 34 total tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble.

The SIAC Freshman of the Year was awarded to Albany State running back Tiant Wyche. Wyche finished fifth in the SIAC with 553 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns. He also recorded 22 receptions for 196 yards and scored two touchdowns, adding 480 kick return yards on 18 attempts and a touchdown.

Allen running back Jamir Dismukesis is the SIAC Newcomer of the Year award winner. Dismukes tallied 284 rushing yards and six touchdowns.

Rounding out the list of SIAC award winners is Miles head coach Sam Shade, claiming the SIAC Coach of the Year award. Shade led the Golden Bears to an 8-2 overall record, including an 8-0 conference record, leading the team to an SIAC Championship berth.
