An encouraging update was provided about the Arkansas-Pine Bluff defensive back Kaleb Knox after he was stretchered off the field following a scary injury on Saturday against Alcorn State.
Knox’s family has provided an update on his condition over the weekend.
In a Facebook post a day following Knox’s injury, his father shared a video of the defensive back gingerly walking toward the hospital door with a family member while wearing a neck brace.
“The last 24 hours have been incredibly chaotic for us,” said Knox’s father in the caption of the Facebook post. “Seeing our son lying lifeless on television and not being by his side to reassure him was the most painful experience of my life. He had his twin brother with him, but we weren’t there.”
He went on to thank the UAPB staff, coaches, and the ‘Alcornites’ for their thoughts and prayers. He concluded by saying Knox had been released from the hospital and was heading home to recover.
Knox suffered the injury in the fourth quarter while defending on an Alcorn State run play. He was carried out on a stretcher, after being down on the field for several minutes, getting airlifted to a local hospital.

UAPB head coach Alonzo Hampton said after the game that Knox was talking and could feel his lower extremities.
An Arkansas native, Knox is in his senior season with the Golden Lions. He has recorded 79 total tackles, an interception, and three pass breakups in 23 career games.
