Despite a rough start to the season for Bethune-Cookman, one Wildcat football player has been special
Kick return specialist Darnell Deas was named national FCS Player of the Week for his 225-yard performance, including two touchdowns, on Saturday against Western Michigan.
Deas posted back-to-back kick return touchdowns for B-CU, beginning with a 95-yard return to close out the first half of play. Deas opened the second half just as he ended the first, taking the kick 98 yards to the house for his sixth career kick return touchdown – just one shy of the all-time FCS career record.

“He comes to work and goes to work,” said Wildcats head coach Raymond Woodie about Deas. “I told him that you have to seize the moment.”
Deas becomes the first Wildcat to take home national honor since 2018, when Jimmy Robinson was tabbed FCS National Player of the Week.
Deas also becomes the first Wildcat to take home SWAC weekly honors in the 2024 season and the first since Tink Boyd was named SWAC Newcomer of the Week in 2023.
