Alabama State gained a quarterback through the transfer portal with the addition of Andrew Body.
They have now lost one, as Dematrius Davis announced Friday afternoon on his Instagram feed that he would be entering the portal this off-season.
“Thank you ASU, for allowing a kid from Houston, TX to have his first taste of college football, become a better man and more educated,” Davis said in his statement. “Thank you to Coach Eddie Robinson and Coach James Williams [for] believing in me from start to finish. Thank you to the trainers that helped me when bruised up. With two years of eligibility left, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal.”
Davis, who previously committed to Auburn and spent a redshirt year there before transferring to ASU, played in 14 games over two seasons, completing 62 percent of his passes (136-for-219) for 1617 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also rushed for 353 yards and scored two touchdowns on the ground. He split time with Myles Crawley during the 2022 season, but saw limited action behind sophomore Damon Stewart this past season.
