Benedict will come into the BCHOF Classic fresh off of back-to-back SIAC championships and undefeated regular seasons and will be led by new head coach Ron Dickerson Jr. following Chennis Berry’s departure to take the job at South Carolina State.
Virginia State finished 2023 8-2, coming in second place in the CIAA North to eventual conference champion Virginia Union.
