Eddie George won the Heisman at Ohio State and still has a fondness for school.
But that doesn’t mean he wants to return to Columbus as a coach.
The Tennessee State head coach denied rumors that he would be interested in taking the now-vacant running backs coach job after the program lost Tony Alford to rival Michigan, Football Scoop reported.
That didn’t stop Ohio State football fans from desiring George to come back to the university in that role.
If I’m Ryan Day, I’m making a play for Eddie George as the RB coach. Alford most likely had 1 year left, especially with him basically having to re-interview this off-season. Chasing those South Florida RB’s burned him.

By Wednesday afternoon, Columbus Dispatch reporter Tim May tweeted that George, who won the 1995 Heisman at Ohio State, had no interest in the position.
“To nip one rumor in the bud, former @OhioStateFB Heisman-winning RB @EddieGeorge27 now @TSUTigersFB HC tells me he is NOT interested in now-open OSU rb job,” May tweeted. “But his current RB coach and former @OhioStateFB rb Pepe Pearson likely is.”
