For the first time in school history, the Miles Golden Bears women’s basketball team can call themselves conference champions in the SIAC following a 75-72 win over the Kentucky State Thorobreds.

Feliah Greer saved her best performance for the biggest moment, scoring a career-high 33 points on 13-of-19 shooting from the field. She also added eight rebounds and three steals.

Tederia Ashley had a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds, along with five assists. Imani Williams battled through a rough shooting game, producing big defensively by recording five steals.

Naja Fenelon came off the bench to lead the Thorobreds with 13 points on 50% shooting. Erica Jones fell short of a double-double, posting nine points and 12 rebounds.

Kentucky State built a lead early going on a 10-0 run in a four-minute stretch in the first quarter. Ending the first period down five, Miles responded with a run of its own to take its first lead of the game.

They would build the lead to double-digits in the third quarter thanks to seven straight points to begin the period by Greer.

Trailing 67-57 with 1:39 remaining in the game, the Thorobreds refused to accept defeat, remaining aggressive on the offensive end, including two big threes, trimming the deficit to one with three seconds left.

However, Miles sealed the deal, hitting two big free throws to cement the win.

The day is not over for the Golden Bears, as their men have the chance to complete the sweep when they face the Clark Atlanta Panthers.
