In hopes of courting interest from pro scouts and team executives, Virginia State defensive back Willie Drew showcased his blazing speed, posting an impressive time in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
He clocked in at 4.48 on his first attempt and improved by two-tenths of a second on his second attempt with a 4.46.

Transferring to Virginia State in 2021, Drew recorded 11 interceptions in his last two seasons, with the team being CIAA Defensive Player of the Year this past season.
He was the only HBCU player selected to play in this year’s Reese’s Senior Bowl and was one of two HBCU players chosen to participate in the NFL Combine (Howard OL Anim Dankwah).
Drew wants to become the second CIAA defensive back to be selected in the NFL Draft in the past three years.
He would join former Fayetteville State defensive back Joshua Williams, a 2022 fourth-round draft pick who has since won two straight Super Bowls as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.
