After his junior season at UNLV, the Warren, Ohio product entered the portal in December and initially announced in a now-removed Instagram post his commitment to FAMU on Jan. 11. Amid the uncertainty of the Rattlers head football coach at the time, Hackett recommitted to the program.
The decision to appoint James Colzie III as FAMU head coach appears to inject much-needed stability into the program, paving the way for Hackett’s recommitment.
His path mirrors that of Rodney Hill, the former five-star FSU running back who had also committed to the Rattlers, only to decommitt and subsequently commit again once a head coach was named.
