Mississippi Valley State defensive lineman Ronnie Thomas has signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.
In 2022, Thomas set the Delta Devils’ single-season record for sacks by a linebacker with 10.5 while also leading the team in tackles for loss with 18. He also ranked third on the team with 58 total tackles.
Thomas was an HBCU Legacy Bowl participant, named to the 2022 Preseason All-SWAC 1st Team, Preseason Phil Steele Preseason All-SWAC 2nd team, All-SWAC 1st team, and Phil Steele All-SWAC 1st team.
Thomas joins a Stampeders defensive unit that ranked fourth in yards per game (359.9), second in rushing yards allowed per game (89.1), seventh in passing yards surrendered (270.8), and first in sacks (56).
