The Rattlers return to Bragg to defeat the Southern Jaguars 30-16 extending their home game winning streak to 15 straight.

“Our work is not done. We still have a lot of football left to play. We will celebrate this one as always and get right back to work tomorrow to continue our push towards the playoffs,” said head coach Willie Simmons.

With a blistering start to the first quarter, the Jaguars were able to seal the first points on the scoreboard after a field goal for 23-yards was successfully attempted by Joshua Griffin. Shortly after, Rattlers wide receiver Xavier Smith connected with a 9-yard pass from quarterback Jeremy Moussa, snatching the Jaguars’ lead, ending the quarter 3-7.

In the second quarter, Jaguars Joshua Griffin tightened the lead for the Rattlers as he converted a 42-yard field goal to cut the FAMU lead to one.

Leading the entire second quarter, the Rattlers secured one last touchdown from A.J. Davis, and two clutch field goal attempts by Romo-Martinez ending the half 9-17.

With the Jaguars being four points away from tying the game, Moussa’s line-drive pass to Jeremiah Pruitte extended the Rattlers’ lead ending the quarter 16-27.

Keeping the same momentum with strong defensive plays by Kym’Mani King and BJ Bohler and one last field goal attempt made by Romo-Martinez, the Rattlers defeated the Jaguars, finalizing the score 30-16.

The Rattlers defense held Southern to 113 passing yards and forced three turnovers. The game’s first turnover came from an interception from Tallahassee native Javan Morgan. In the second quarter, Winsome Frazier forced his second fumble of the game, which resulted in a recovery by Isaiah Major.

Then halfway through the fourth quarter, the defense made a big goal-line stop as Kym’Mani King forced a fumble at the two-yard line and BJ Bohler dove on the ball for the recovery.
