North Carolina A&T’s athletics department reported Monday that four athletes tested positive for coronavirus, the first known cases to impact an HBCU athletic program.
NCAT, according to the News & Record, said all the athletes were asymptomatic and are currently in quarantine. No hospitalizations were reported.
The school did not indicate which athletic programs were affected.
The university said athletes undergo daily temperature and symptom screenings and evaluations, including mandatory masking when not involved in sports-specific activities.
North Carolina A&T athletes began arriving on campus on July 6. Approximately 115 student-athletes were involved in voluntary summer workouts.
