For what appears to the be the umpteenth consecutive year, the Bayou Classic football game between Grambling State and Southern University will have something more on the line other than bragging rights.
Southern (7-4, 5-1 SWAC) was predicted to win the conference’s West Division and currently sits atop of the division one game ahead of second-place Grambling State (6-4, 4-2 SWAC). The Tigers were predicted to finish third in the division.
The winner of Saturday’s 4 p.m. (CT) contest at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans will face Alcorn State on Dec. 7 in the SWAC Championship Game to play played on the ASU campus in Lorman, Mississippi.
The game will be televised nationally on NBCSN.
