Tennessee State, which has played in every game since the event was created in 1990, renewed its contract with the Southern Heritage Classic back in December.
Jackson State has played in all but two of the scheduled contests. Tennessee State faced Mississippi Valley State in 1991, and later met Grambling State in 1993.
This year’s SHC is scheduled for Sept. 14 at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis.
