There have been multitudes of amazing HBCU band performances since the 2018 marching season began.

However, there were two bands that we believe consistently performed better than everyone else.

As a result, Jackson State’s Sonic Boom of the South and North Carolina A&Ts Blue and Gold Marching Machine are the two finalists for HBCU Sports’ 2018 Band of the Year.

Ranked No. 2 in the midseason poll of the top HBCU marching bands in America
Received No. 1 ranking on the list of the top 5 halftime shows from Week 5
Received No. 3 ranking on the list of the top 5 halftime shows from Week 8
Received No. 2 ranking on the list of the top 5 halftime shows from Week 9
Received No. 4 ranking on the list of the top 5 halftime shows from Week 10
Received No. 1 ranking on the list of the top 5 halftime shows from Week 12
Ranked No. 7, No. 4, No. 2 on the list of top 20 cover songs of 2018 by HBCU bands

North Carolina A&T

Ranked No. 1 in the midseason poll of the top HBCU marching bands in America
Received No. 1 ranking on the list of the top 5 halftime shows from Week 2
Received No. 1 ranking on the list of the top 5 halftime shows from Week 4
Received No. 1 ranking on the list of the top 5 halftime shows from Week 7
