NORFOLK, Va., – The approaching Hurricane Florence has forced the postponement of another college football contest on the East Coast.
Saturday’s Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game between Howard University and Savannah State University, slated for 1 p.m. at Howard’s Greene Stadium, has been postponed in order to ensure the safety of the participating teams and fans.
MEAC Commissioner Dr. Dennis Thomas says a make-up date is to be determined and will be announced as soon as possible.
“Obviously, the health and safety of our student-athletes, staffs and fans of both universities are of utmost concern for us,” said Thomas. “Should the path of Hurricane Florence pose a threat to any other events involving our institutions, we will quickly alert our fans.”
