Arkansas-Pine Bluff has named former Alcorn State defensive coordinator Cedric Thomas as its new head football coach.
Thomas, who played cornerback for the Golden Lions in the late 90s for two seasons, replaces Monte Coleman who coached at the school for 10 seasons while amassing a record of 40-70.
Before becoming the defensive coordinator at Alcorn State in 2015 after serving on the ASU staff for four seasons, Thomas served as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Mississippi Delta Community College.
UAPB finished the 2017 football season with a record of 2-9. It was the program’s fifth consecutive losing season since 2012 when the team finished the season 10-2.
