After blowing a 14-point 4th quarter lead to rival Bethune-Cookman, which resulted in a 29-14 loss, Florida A&M is in the market for a new head football coach.
Alex Wood resigned as FAMU’s head coach effective Monday.
“Wood has served FAMU Athletics with honor as he worked to help rebuild the Rattler football program during the past three seasons,” Athletic Director Milton Overton said in a release. “We thank him for his dedication and service.”
Wood, who was hired before the start of the 2015 season, was in the final year of a three-year agreement.
In three seasons at FAMU, Wood went 8-25. The Rattlers went 1-10 in 2015, 4-7 in 2016 and 3-8 this past season.
FAMU will launch a national search to identify the next head football coach through a search committee led by Interim Director of Athletics John Eason.
Offensive Line Coach Edwin Pata, a former FSU football player, will serve as interim head football coach.
He is a good coach and recruiter. The players were too undisciplined at times. I wish Wood the best. He was a classy dude.
