PHENIX CITY, Ala. — Tuskegee running back Hoderick Lowe scored on a 71 yard touchdown run in the first quarter, but Albany State’s three unanswered scores handed the Golden Tigers a 20-7 loss in the White Water Classic inside Garret-Harrison Stadium Saturday evening.

TU surrendered 462 yards of total offense and was only able to manufacture 119 yards of total offense with 71 of those coming on a late first quarter TD run from Lowe to put the Golden Tigers ahead 7-0. The Golden Rams would respond with a 12 play 87 yard drive capped off with 13 yard touchdown pass from Chancel Johnson to Gabriel Ballinas. The Golden Rams would tack on another score just before halftime when Johnson connected with Quadrey Simmons on a 21 yard touchdown pass.

Perhaps the biggest difference in the game was that TU only gained 26 yards passing and earned a total of two first downs the entire game. The Golden Rams rushed for 253 yards and 209 yards passing.

Osband Thompson led the Golden Tigers with a 16 day tackle effort with 12 of those coming as solos. Davoris Thomas finished with nine stops while Roshad Broadway added eight tackles.

Albany State scored its final touchdown of the game when Johnson completed his third TD pass of the day to Ballinas, which ended up being his second score of the game with 18 seconds left in the third quarter. The game would mark the first loss against Albany State since 2010.

Dalton Hall saw back to back solid evenings in the kicking game for Tuskegee. He punted the ball six times for 245 yards and a long of 54 yards but also had two other punts of plus 50 yards. Quarterback Jamarcus Ezell completed three of his nine passing attempts for only 26 yards

The Golden Rams controlled the game offensively with a time of possession of 43:56, while TU was only able to maintain 16:04 worth of productivity.

Tuskegee turns its attention to Clark Atlanta next Saturday from Alumni Stadium and a game that is set to kickoff at 1 p.m. Tuskegee Digital Network Coverage gets underway at 12:30 p.m.
