MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama State University’s football game against Alcorn State has been moved to a Thursday night contest and will be televised live on ESPNU with the kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. on October 5 at ASU Football Stadium.
“We are very excited to play host to a nationally televised game again this season,” Alabama State Director of Athletics Melvin Hines II said. “This will be a good opportunity to showcase the university, our student-athletes and our football program. We are extremely happy to be a part of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) football package and we expect a great turnout as ASU Football Stadium for the Thursday night game. ”
This marks the second straight year Alabama State and Alcorn State will have met on an ESPN Network game. Last year, the Braves edged the Hornets, 21-18, on ESPN3 in Lorman, Miss.
“We are very excited to face a very good opponent in Alcorn State on ESPNU,” Alabama State head coach Brian Jenkins said. “We expect a great turnout from the Hornet faithful and looking forward to another outstanding SWAC game.”
