BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alcorn State quarterback Noah Johnson, Southern running back Lenard Tillery and linebacker Aaron Tiller, Texas Southern kicker/punter Eric Medina, and Prairie View A&M defensive back Raleigh Johnson have been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference for their performance in week 11 of the 2016 season.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week – Tillery/N. Johnson

Running Back/Quarterback

Tillery continued to add to his all-time SWAC rushing totals, chewing up 245 yards on the ground during Southern’s 44-34 win over Prairie View. Tillery’s yardage is the best figure by a SWAC player in three years. Johnson nearly tied a single-game FCS record with eight total touchdowns against Mississippi Valley State. In the 61-7 Braves win, Johnson threw for 285 yards and seven scores on 12-of-16 passing and rushed for 65 yards and a score.

Defensive Player of the Week – Tiller

Linebacker
6-1 | 256 | R-Jr. | Columbus, Ohio

Tiller wreaked havoc against Panthers to help Southern remained undefeated in SWAC play. Tiller recorded a game high four sacks and added 13 tackles with 5.5 tackles for loss. Tiller also added a forced fumble which resulted in a fumble recovery for a TD in the Jaguars’ 44-34 road win.

Special Teams Player of the Week – Medina

5-11| 195 | Sr. | La Porte, Texas

In the Tigers’ 27-10 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Medina was a perfect 2-for-2 in field goal attempts, hitting from 42 yards and 24 yards out. He also averaged 42.7 yards per punt, taking three of them on the day. Medina also threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Elie Nabushosi on a fake field goal attempt.

Newcomer of the Week – R. Johnson
Prairie View A&M
Defensive Back
6-2| 185 | R-Jr. | Beaumount, Texas

Johnson was a bright spot for the Panthers’ defense despite Prairie View’s 44-34 setback versus Southern. The secondary member made 13 total stops in the game, leading the Panthers. Additionally, he was in on a tackle behind the line of scrimmage and also blocked an extra point attempt early in the contest.
