Grambling State will be without its leading wide out for the season opener on Saturday after Chad Williams was suspended following an arrest on weapons and drugs charges.
Williams, a senior, will be suspended for the Tigers 2016 opener versus Virginia-Lynchburg, according to the News-Star.
Williams was arrested on several complaints, including marijuana possession and possession of a firearm with drugs during a traffic stop in May.
‘He’s been doing some other things all summer long, community service and some other punishment things that we have asked him to do,” head coach Broderick Fobbs said. He learned from his mistakes. He’s a good young man. It’s out of character for him, but he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Williams led the Tigers in receiving with 62 catches for 1,012 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.
