BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Dillon Cooper and Tyler Howe of Alabama State have been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference as the Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for their exceptional performance in competition, April 18 – 24.

Player of the Week
Dillon Cooper
Alabama State
OF | 6-0 | Sr. | Palm Bay, Fla.
Cooper hit .538, going 7-for-13 at the plate last week. He scored five runs with four extra-base hits, including two doubles and two home runs, with 9 RBI, drew two base-on-balls and was hit by a pitch for a .588 on-base percentage and 1.154 slugging percentage. Cooper has had at least two hits and two RBI in three straight games and collected his first career two-homer game Sunday at Miss. Valley State, driving in a career-high five runs.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Tyler Howe
Alabama State
RHP | Jr. | 6-1 | Lakeland, Fla.
In two appearances including one start over 10.0 innings pitched, Howe allowed two hits and one run, with one walk and 11 strikeouts. He pitched a complete game one-hit shutout Saturday at Miss. Valley St., walking one and striking out 10 and retired the final 12 hitters he faced. With the win, Howe earned his seventh-straight win, extending longest streak of his career. For the season Howe sits at 7-2 in 10 games with nine starts with a 1.05 ERA in 60.0 IP. He has allowed 39 hits and 13 runs (seven earned) while collecting 12 walks and 61 strikeouts. This is Howe’s third weekly SWAC honor of the season.
