NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State’s Kyle Vaas and Bethune-Cookman’s Nathan Bond were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Baseball Players of the Week, the conference announced today. Bethune-Cookman’s Danny Rodriguez earned Rookie of the Week, while Matt Outman of Norfolk State was named Pitcher of the Week.
Vaas (DH, 6-0, Sr., Chesterfield, Va.) went 4-for-7 (.571) with two doubles, one triple, four RBIs, two runs scored and two walks, in two wins over Delaware State. His triple in game two was a go-ahead two-run triple.
Bond (OF, 6-2, 195, Sr., Orlando, Fla.) registered a .647 batting average (11-for-17), in four games against Savannah State and North Florida. He belted a two-run home run in the 12-7 win over Savannah State.
Rodriguez (1B, 6-3, 240, Fr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) went 8-for-17 at the plate with eight hits, including two RBIs, and three runs scored. At first base he fielded at a .976 clip with 37 putouts and three assists.
Outman (LHP, 6-3, r-Sr., Chesapeake, Va.) threw a complete game, allowing only three hits, against Delaware State. He fanned seven batters in the shutout victory.

Zach Mills (UMES) batted .444 (4-for-9), with two RBIs and one run scored, in three games against Mount St. Mary’s and Coppin State.
Krystian Negron (CSU) scattered five hits, with seven strikeouts and two walks, in 8.0 innings pitched against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Tyler Norris (B-CU) pitched seven scoreless innings, with nine strikeouts, in a win over Savannah State.
Sisqo Scott (NCCU) recorded his first career RBI, in a win over Longwood.
Thomas Summers (UMES) finished with four hits, three runs and two walks, in three games against Mount St. Mary’s and Coppin State.
Christian Triplett (NCCU) hit a home run in back-to-back games against Virginia State and UNC Asheville.
Andrew Vernon (NCCU) surrendered five hits in 5.0 innings pitched, with nine strikeouts, in a win over UNC Asheville.
