NORFOLK, Va. – Florida A&M quarterback Carson Royal was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today.  FAMU’s John Boston and South Carolina State’s Chris Pauling earned Co-Defensive Player the Week honors.

Hampton defensive end Darien Williams earned Rookie of the Week honors while N.C. Central Clevonne Davis was selected as the Offensive Lineman of the Week. SCSU’s Lynard Jamison was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.

Royal (QB, 6-2, 200, Jr., Yulee, Fla.) completed 14-of-31 passes for 229 yards, including three touchdowns, in a 41-13 win against Delaware State.  He also ran nine times for 44 yards to help Florida A&M record their first win of the season.

Boston (DB, 5-11, 190, Sr., Oviedo, Fla.) recorded 13 tackles, seven solo, with one sack for a loss of five yards.  Also, he forced a fumble and intercepted a pass as the Rattlers earned the 41-13 win over Delaware State.

Pauling (DB, 5-10, 185, Sr., High Point, N.C.) picked off two passes, one he returned 42-yards for a touchdown, in a win over Howard.  He also registered two solo tackles.

Williams (DE, 6-2, 220, Fr., Virginia Beach, Va.) finished the game with seven tackles, five for a loss of 22 yards, and 1.5 sack.  He also forced a fumble and recorded a quarterback hurry to help the Pirates record a 20-10 win over Morgan State.

Davis (T, 6-2, 305, Sr., Miramar, Fla.) graded out at 98-percent of his blocking assignments with 11 pancake blocks and without a penalty or a sack against Savannah State.  Davis’ efforts aided N.C. Central to amass 433 yards of total offense, including 291 yards rushing.

Jamison (WR/PR/KR) returned a 91-yard punt for a touchdown in S.C. State’s 49-10 win over Howard. Offensively, he also led the team in receptions with eight for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Other Top Performers

Larry Brihm Jr. (BCU) connected on 17-of-25 passes for 167 yards and ran six times for 14 yards, including one touchdown, against N.C. A&T State.

Trenton Bridges (BCU) tallied a game-high eight tackles with 0.5 for a loss against N.C. A&T State.

Jonathan Cagle (BCU) boomed four punts for 124 total yards against Bethune-Cookman.

Tarik Cohen (NCAT) rushed for 116 yards on 20 carries with one touchdown against Bethune-Cookman.  Also he caught five passes for 29 yards in the team’s victory.

Terrick Colston (DSU) collected 10 tackles, seven solo, with one interception for a 20-yard return against Florida A&M.

Chaka Diarrassouba (HAM) returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown and collected seven tackles in a win over Hampton.

Mike Gaynor Jr. (MSU) recorded 10 tackles, one for a loss, and one interception against Hampton.

Julius Reynolds (NCAT) posted seven tackles, five solo, with 2.0 for a loss and one forced fumble against Bethune-Cookman.

Nigel Macauley (NCCU) nailed three field goals from 30, 35 and 30-yards out, and hit four extra-point attempts to register 13 total points against Savannah State.

Jeremiah McGeough (DSU) booted nine punts for a 39.8 yard average, including a long of 52 yards, against Florida A&M.  He also landed five kicks inside FAMU’s 20-yard line.

Andrew Mitchell (MSU) racked up 128 yards on three punt returns, including a 66-yard return for a score against Hampton.

Brandon Parker (NCAT) finished with four pancake blocks, and posted a grade of 87-percent, as he led the offensive line that accounted for 157 yards on the ground.

Steven Sawicki (NCAT) punted six times for an average of 39.5 yards per punt with four inside Bethune-Cookman’s 20-yard line, including a long of 48-yards.

Caleb York (SCSU) threw for 208 yards on 13-of-22 attempts with two touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 49-10 over Howard.
