Former Morehouse wide receiver Derrick Hector has signed a contract with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. Hector, who transferred from Miles College, led the Maroon Tigers in receptions and receiving yards in the 2010 and 2011 seasons and was named to the All-SIAC teams in both years.
In 2010, Hector caught 41 passes for 498 yards and was second in the SIAC in receptions and sixth in yardage.
In 2011, Hector caught 49 passes for 648 yards and was third in the conference in receptions and fourth in yardage.
After leaving Morehouse in 2012, Hector continued his dream of playing professional football and worked out for some time with former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chris Chambers, according to Leon Murray, Morehouse’s offensive coordinator
“I don’t know the terms of the deal, but I think he signed for one year,” said Murray, who coached Hector while he was a Maroon Tiger.
In 2014, Hector played in six games with the Richmond Raiders, one of seven teams of the Professional Indoor Football League, where he had 20 catches for 246 yards.
