The saga of Tuskegee men’s basketball coach Benjy Taylor’s detainment at Morehouse is far from finished.

According to a report from Steven J. Gaither of HBCU Gameday, Taylor is set to hold a press conference Friday announcing a lawsuit against Morehouse as well as two officers involved in the Jan. 31 incident.

Taylor was concerned about Morehouse football players interfering in the post-game handshake line following the Maroon Tigers’ 77-69 win. Video footage shows a calm Taylor expressing his concern to an officer, who in turn handcuffed Taylor and escorted him out of the gym.

Tuskegee head coach Benjy Taylor was handcuffed by police after the loss at Morehouse.

Here’s his statement to @TheFieldOf68:

“I am at a loss for words and I am upset about how I was violated and treated today. For my players, my family and people of Tuskegee to witness that… pic.twitter.com/2AQRNCu1Dd

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference investigated the incident and fined Morehouse for failing to adhere to “SIAC Policy 1.9, which governs host institutions’ responsibilities for crowd control and ensuring the safe entry and exit of visiting teams and participants.”

Morehouse president F. DuBois Bowman questioned the SIAC’s handling of the incident, accusing many of ” [Mischaracterizing] our students and the institution.”
