BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Albany State captured the 2015 SIAC Women’s Basketball Tournament crown with a 74-64 win over defending tournament champion Benedict on Sunday at the Bill Harris Arena.
ASU (19-9) captures its first title since 1998 and eighth overall.
Tournament MVP Mecca Frost tallied a double-double, with 28 points and 10 rebounds, to go with eight assists.
She 7-of-12 from the field earning 14-of-15 from the free-throw line. Keidra Green added 13 points from 5-of-8 shooting and Artisha Holston pitched in 12 points with nine rebounds.
The Lady Rams scored 23 points from BC (23-6) miscues and shot 36 percent overall.
They led 36-32 at the break hitting 40 percent in the first frame and led by as much as 13 in the second half.
Kristine Lesane had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Kari Jones finished with a team high 14 points. The Lady Tigers got 38 points from its bench with 32 points in the paint.
