HBCU Football Polls – Week 10

North Carolina A&T remains atop the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls.

The Aggies were off last week – as was No. 2 Alcorn State – and N.C. A&T claimed all but two first-place votes in both polls.

In the coaches poll, Alcorn State closed the gap a bit from last week, picking up the other two first-place votes.  All of the rest of their votes were second place votes.  South Carolina State leapfrogged Grambling State and sits at the No. 3 position, coming off its big victory last week over then No. 1 Bethune-Cookman and beating Savannah State 59-7 on Saturday.

Alabama A&M and Norfolk State have each won its last two games and enter the poll for the first time this year at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.  AAMU has not been in the poll since week two of 2013 and the Spartans since week five of 2012.

Meanwhile in the media poll, North Carolina A&T widened its margin slightly over Alcorn State from last week and is 41 points ahead of the No. 2 Braves.  Texas Southern was the only team in the poll to lose Saturday and fell one spot to No. 10.

There are plenty of important matchups this week including Bethune-Cookman at Norfolk State, a game in which the Spartans won in Daytona Beach last year, spoiling the Wildcats undefeated season in the MEAC.  Other games include Southern hosting Texas Southern, Alcorn State at Alabama A&M, North Carolina A&T hosting Morgan State and Tuskegee at Miles for the SIAC Eastern Division crown.

The BOXTOROW HBCU FCS coaches and media polls are administered by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW.  The coaches poll is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
