NORFOLK, Va. – Florida A&M quarterback Damien Fleming and Norfolk State wide receiver Isaac White were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.Bethune-Cookman cornerback Thomas Finnie was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Norfolk State quarterback Terrance Ervin earned Rookie of the Week honors whileMorgan State’s Clarence Swain was named Offensive Lineman of the Week. North Carolina A&T’s Cody Jones was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Fleming (QB, 6-3, 210, Sr., Jacksonville, Fla.) connected on 16 of 23 passes (70.0%) for 164 yards with two touchdowns in a 31-28 victory over Howard. He also rushed for 38 yards on 12 attempts with another two TDs in the win.
White (WR, 6-3, 185, Jr., Portsmouth, Va.) caught 10 passes for 150 yards with two touchdowns in a 21-13 victory over Hampton. He scored the game clinching 30-yard TD in the fourth quarter to secure the win for the Spartans.
Finnie (CB, 5-10, 185, Sr., Miami, Fla.) recorded a pair of interceptions in a 48-20 win over Savannah State. He also recorded one solo tackle for a loss of four yards.
Ervin (QB, 6-3, 210, Fr., Richmond, Va.) completed 21-of-31 passes for 335 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Spartans to a 21-13 win over Hampton.
Swain (OT, 6-3, 330, Sr., Fayetteville, Ga.) graded out at 95-percent of all blocking assignments as he anchored the offensive line that aided the team with 360 yards of total offense in a 21-20 come-from-behind Homecoming victory against North Carolina Central. He recorded four pancake blocks and played without any penalties and did not surrender a single sack.
Jones (K, 5-11, 136, Gastonia, N.C.) was a perfect 4-of-4 on field goals as he connected on kicks of 32, 28, 29 and 43 yards out. He also nailed 3-of-3 extra point attempts and punted four times for an average of 53.2 yards per kick including one inside the 20 yard line. His longest punt went 62 yards.
