Can a team that has won only once during the regular season be disrespected?
Depending on who you ask Florida A&M (1-5) feels a little slighted being the homecoming opponent at Howard on Saturday.
“If that’s going to fuel their fire I’m all for that,” said head coach Earl Holmes. “But at the same time, I know somebody has to be someone else’s homecoming (opponent). It’s still a football game, a conference game and it’s still a very important game so we have to go out and do our best to have our team prepare on all cylinders.”
The players, though, were a bit more blunt with their dislike in being in a position only historically reserved for conference doormats.
“You think of it like disrespect,” kicker Chase Varnadore said. “This is a game they feel like they can definitely win or they would’t have scheduled us for homecoming. Our role is to go up there and spoil it; get the win.”
Considering that FAMU hasn’t experienced a winning season since 2011,they might not have much equity to complain.
