NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central running back Andre Clarke was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Davon Moore, of Delaware State, was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
North Carolina A&T quarterback Hasaan Klugh earned Rookie of the Week honors while NCCU’s Zachary Giles was named Offensive Lineman of the Week while DSU’s Terrick Colston was named Special Teams Players of the Week.
Clarke (RB, 5-10, 230, r-Sr., Mauldin, S.C.) rushed for 144 yards on 13 attempts with three touchdowns as he led the Eagles to a 48-35 victory over South Carolina State. He averaged 10.3 yards per carry and recorded a long of 52 yards to help NCCU remain unbeaten in conference play.
Moore (DB, 5-11, 205, Sr., Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) collected seven tackles, five solo, in the Hornets 13-10 overtime victory against Norfolk State. He recorded two interceptions with his second coming on the 3-yard line halting NSU’s drive in their first overtime possession.
Klugh (QB, 6-3, 195, Fr., Concord, N.C.) completed 13-of-17 (76%) for 167 yards passing with a touchdown in North Carolina A&T’s 31-14 win over Hampton.
Giles (LG, 6-1, 320, r-Jr., Durham, N.C.) graded out at 95-percent as he aided the Eagles amass 517 yards of total offense, including 290 rushing, against South Carolina State. He recorded four pancake blocks without giving up a sack and/or a penalty in the win.
Colston (DB, 6-1, 190, Jr., Lakeland, Fla.) blocked a punt and returned it three yards for a touchdown in the Hornets’ 13-10 overtime victory against Norfolk State. Defensively he added seven tackles, four solo and returned an interception 28 yards to help secure the victory.
