Louisiana-Lafayette avenged 1-0 loss to Jackson State on Friday by knocking off the Tigers 11-1 Sunday.
JSU, who used only three pitchers in the first two games of the Lafayette Regional, used five Sunday, as the Ragin’ Cajuns scored five runs in the third inning off starter Christopher Wingard to break a 1-1 tie. The inning was capped off by a grand slam off the bat of ULL’s Jace Conrad.
As in the first two games against Louisiana-Lafayette and Mississippi State, the Tigers’ offense was only able to muster a single run.
Sunday’s loss eliminates Jackson State from the NCAA Tournament. Louisiana-Lafayette will face Mississippi State for the Lafayette Regional championship.
