A day after topping No. 1 national seed Louisiana-Lafayette 1-0 in the the first game of the NCAA regional, Jackson State fell to in-state foe Mississippi State 3-1 Saturday night.
JSU starter Desmond Russell allowed just three runs and a seven hits over nine innings of work in the losing effort.
Jackson State managed three hits, with the Tigers lone run coming on a bases loaded walk by Charles Tillery in the fourth inning.
The Tigers will face Louisiana-Lafayette Sunday in an elimination game.
