The Prairie View A&M baseball team hit the practice field on Thursday afternoon in preparation for its 2012 NCAA Regional opener versus Rice University on today at 6 p.m. in Reckling Park.

The Panthers had a brief workout at Reckling Park and met with the media on Thursday as head coach Waskyla Cullivan and his baseball club prepare for the school’s third NCAA Regional in university history.  Prairie View A&M is no stranger to Rice University as its previous two NCAA appearances also took place at Reckling Park in 2006 and 2007 against Rice.

“Rice is playing at home and they’ve been successful here over the years,” said Cullivan.  “They pitch well, they hit well and have a lot of strengths as I really can’t find a weakness on them.  But one thing I do know is that we’re a very confident ballclub and do know we can win.”
