Houston, TX-The Texas Southern Tigers football team is taking a major step to honor those players and supporters who laid the foundation for today’s football program.
“I promised myself that if I ever became head coach at Texas Southern, that I would do something to honor the great players who played football at TSU,” said head coach Johnnie Cole.
What coach Cole has done is revive the TSU Football Hall of Fame. Cole created a committee that covers the TSU football eras from the 50’s thought the 90’s. They reviewed the great players from those periods and chose 15 to be inducted into the hall of fame this year. Those 15 players and four supporters will be honored during a ceremony on May 1st.
“This reception will give our fans and former players an opportunity to show their support for the program while we recognize some deserving individuals for their contributions to TSU and to football,” said Cole.
The Texas Southern Football Hall of Fame reception will be held May 1st at the Westin Galleria Houston from 5:00pm-11:00pm. Donations are $25.00. You are asked to RSVP by April 26th by email to kirventm@tsu.edu or by calling 713-313-7048.
