October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Staying true to something we started 3 years ago, The [email protected] have gone pink for the month of October to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  This is also the first year we have taken the time to recognize BCAM on the front page by adding the symbolic pink ribbon next to our logo in the header.

Here are some interesting facts from WebMD regarding African-American women and breast cancer:

Breast cancer deaths declined among African-American women. But African-Americans are still 40% more likely to die of breast cancer than are white women in the U.S.

And although fewer white women are getting diagnosed with breast cancer, rates have remained stable among African-Americans.

Bottom line:  Ladies, get those mammograms!  Have your “Ta-Tas” checked early and often.  Our very own Seeing Spots makes a wonderful suggestion as to how men can “perform community service”.

TSPN men:

Check your wife’s boobies…check your fiance’s boobies…check your girlfriend’s boobies…check your lover’s boobies…DO THE PINK THING. A great opportunity to perform community service!

Men, if that’s not enough to get your attention about BCAM how about a message from the lovely Gabrielle Union.
