Mississippi Valley State is looking for a strong start to 2008 after a solid finish to a disappointing 3-8 season in 2007. The Delta Devils won two of their final five games, and the three losses during that time came by a combined 12 points, which would have given them three consecutive winning seasons. Former MVSU legend Willie Totten enters his seventh season as head coach at his alma mater, which is slated to return 15 starters to this years’ squad.
“Winning is what we have to do. Losing is not an option,†reverberated Delta Devils head football coach Willie Totten as he sat reflecting on the last conversation he had with his team at the end of spring training. To do this, Valley will rely heavily on the experience of some new faces in the lineup to replace the more than twenty student-athletes that have graduated or been released from last year’s squad.
