Three Tennessee State University football players were named to the 2007 All-Ohio Valley Conference football team, two on defense and one on offense. The All-OVC football team is selected by OVC Head Football Coaches and Sports Information Directors.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, a defensive back, and Shaun Richardson, a defensive lineman, were named to the first team, Cornelius Lewis, an offensive tackle was named to the second team.
Rodgers-Cromartie, 6-2, 185, Sr., Bradenton, FL, was consensus a first-team pre-season All-American (FCS) and a first team preseason All-OVC selection. Rodgers-Cromartie finished the season with 34 tackles (28 solo), 11 Pass Break-ups, 2 Tackles for Loss (8 yards), 2 interceptions (140 yds) and 2 fumble recoveries.
Additionally, “DRC†has returned 33 kick-offs this season for 806 yards and 1 TD, and 4 Punt Returns for 16 yards. Also finished the year with 4 blocked kicks (3 FGs and 1 PAT). Two FG and 1 PAT blocks were game-savers (Jackson State-FG, Austin Peay-PAT in OT, Murray State-FG). He had 2 rushes on end-arounds for 16 yards and 1 pass reception for 38 yards. On the season “DRC†finished 1,016 All-Purpose Yards (92.4 ypg).
Richardson, 6-3, 250, Sr., St. Louis, MO, finished the season credited with 46 tackles (28 solo), 14.5 Tackles For Loss (82 yds), 7 Sacks (61 yds), 1 interceptions (15 yds), 6 QB hurries, 2 Forced Fumbles, 1 Forced Fumbles and 1 Pass Breakup. Richardson scored two touchdowns on the season, once on a fumble return of 73 yards (vs. Austin Peay) and once on an interception return of 15 yards (vs. Samford).
Lewis, 6-5, 310, Jr., Jacksonville, FL, a transfer from Florida State, started all 11 games for the Tigers in 2007. He was part of the offensive line that allowed TSU to average 210.8 yards/gm in rushing (2nd in the OVC).
