Just when you thought the students, faculty and staff at DSU had been through enough in dealing with their tragedy in August, they must now deal with the shooting of 2 DSU students that occured on the Dover, DE campus late last night.
As reported by The News Journal (Wilmington, DE), the shooter is still at large.
DOVER — The Delaware State University campus is locked down after two students were shot on campus early today. One suspect was still at large, officials said.
“We have no information on the shooter. No suspect has been identified,” said Carlos Holmes, DSU spokesman. “We have no way of knowing if he’s left the campus yet.”
Classes are canceled for the day and all non-essential employees were told not to report to work, Holmes said.
Officials are asking students to remain in their rooms until the campus is secure and they can leave in a safe way.
DSU has also posted an official press release on its website.
In situations like this college athletics obviously take a back seat. But on a side note, the Hornets football team is idle for this weekend and is scheduled to play Hampton in Dover on September 29th at 7:30pm.
Hang in there DSU. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
