Livingstone’s women’s basketball team historic 22-game winning streak is over after the school self-reported the use of an ineligible player.
As a result, Livingstone will forfeit the 18 games senior Alabama transfer Kyra Crosby played in this season, the Winston-Salem Journal reported.
Crosby, who leads the No. 5 ranked Blue Bears in scoring averaging 14.8 points per game, was improperly certified this season, according to the school.
Livingstone’s record is now 4-18.
Livingstone president Jimmy R. Jenkins said in a statement that associate director of athletics compliance Malcolm Nelson has resigned and athletic director Andre Springs was placed on probation for one year as a result of the infraction.
“We rely on our athletics department to be vigilant in making sure our athletics programs comply with NCAA standards, and it is now clear to me that the department did not live up to our expectations,” Jenkins said.
