What did SU do that says that they are going to beat JSU?? Remember last year you had to battle a 2-10 team for dear life. We have the potential to be much better than that team that scared Petey to death.
While this is ANOTHER DIVERSION that does not answer the question above in bold (remember I said this thread was about JSU and what did the FIRST person who responded do? Ask me if SU can do this or that.), I'll bite on yours because I'm not scared to say what's right and wrong about my school's program.
(1) SU was able to retain a veteran O-line and D-line to combat what Jackson State has to offer. Last year, that was a MAJOR SU advantage in the game.
(2) SU has improved its special teams in kicking and punting while the coverage still needs help. This was ALSO an advantage over JSU last year.
(3) SU's linebackers are quicker and better than last year's group. JSU didn't run that much last year on us so if the DL and LB's do their job, JSU will run less.
(4) SU quarterback, running back , and WR positions took hits this summer and graduation, but they were able to return a senior QB, who had 276 yards against McNeese, a senior RB, who ran for over 100 yards against McNeese, and a Junior Wr would caught over 100 yards in passes against McNeese. Add to that a quicker WR core, even though they are younger and inexperienced and multiple options in the running game behind a massive O-line that JSU couldn't control last year (Options: Holmes, Steel, Herbert, Huff, Coates, or Rose.
(5) SU knows that the game last year should have been under their control a whole lot earlier. They will want to remedy that, especially if JSU comes in with one or two wins by that time.
(6) SU's inexperienced secondary will definitely have had their tests before October in the Dome. Playing Valley, SDSU, and Alabama State will take care of that. Maybe even Prairie View. But, since your tendency is to run the ball .....
Now, if I got into the JSU reasons why SU will win this year, I could fill this thread up.
BTW, if you are counting at home, this is DIVERSION Number 40 something from the original question.
