Would any of you travel to an away game at a smaller HBCU to see your team?

For example..If your school had to go to Fort Valley, Albany, Elizabeth City or Fayetteville to play at their stadiums, would anyone go?

I think ALL HBCUs should play against each other and we shouldnt be "too good" or above playing at a division 2 HBCU. It would be a good chance to mingle with alumni and students of different HBCUs, and put money into the schools and communities.

I understand the thinking behind that, but in my opinion HBCUS need to stick together & create revenue among each other, especially with the current administration in the White House.

People don't think in dollars and sense people too worried about how things look instead of how they really are. If you do a home and home obviously you wouldn't pay them to play you. I think people of color should build our own economy surrounding something. This could be interesting. If all HBCU's joined together to play games and build our own economy around these schools HBCU's could form their own sanctioning body and tell the NCAA to kick rocks.

There won’t be much revenue created, though. Not as much as money games with FBS schools. We can talk about the importance of doing something like that, but a lot of schools barely are able to draw decent crowds and interest ... playing HBCUs as it is.
 
The atmosphere with AAMU @Tuskegee was always lit. The games in Tuskegee's Alumni Bowl between the schools (at least the ones I've attended) were always packed. So many families with mixed alumni. Of course we play each other every now and then (on neutral sites), but there should have never been an interruption in this series even at the expense of AAMU coming down to Tuskegee.

Yes we have to humble Skee Gee every once in a while since Gump St can't keep them in line....

That sounds good. But it just isn't realistic. FCS HBCU teams can't simply ignore the budgets they have to deal with (which are higher than D2 programs) simply to play a game at a D2's home field for the purposes of good faith.

Now, that model might work with basketball. But it simply isn't feasible with football.

I agree except for the neutral site part. I personally believe there are enough FCS programs to schedule home/home games with but our ADs are lazy at some of our schools.

For example Grambling should never be playing in Langston....nor should PV.

Also, I am against money games.

In order for the SWAC to make money all the schools have to be on one accord and not compete but collaborate.

But this is another thread and discussion.

Exactly...Most of our HBCUS are in majority black towns & cities. Playing in these cities could bring much needed revenue through hotels, restaurants & car rentals

Promotion has a lot to do with it (even at my sTu). We have gotten lazy and expect people to just show up (especially in metropolitan areas with a lot of competition for the dollar) or just take the short cut and play FBS or high FCS schools.

I agree with the above comments except in situtions where the larger hbcus are traveling to the smaller ones for some special occasion such as the opening of a new stadium.
 
No FCS should ever pack bags to play a D2 school unless in cases like our Morehouse game at the HOF. The classic was actually in negotiations with a MEAC school for that game.

We had no business going to Mobile to play Central State, but apparently there were already agreements with the GCC in place prior to the opponent being scheduled

I'm not even in favor of situations like this because schools like Tuskegee get to benefit instead of traveling to a SWAC/MEAC school. WSSU was like this for a few years when they had their run until Broadway I believe told them that if they wanted to play them come to their place.

I think part of the reason why we don't play Delta State anymore is due to this (we played them at their place in the mid 2000s (3rd highest attended game ever at their stadium)). Mississippi College thankfully isn't like this
